The New England Patriots reportedly made an offer to the New Orleans Saints for wide receiver Brandin Cooks. The Patriots offered the 32nd pick in this years draft for Cooks, but the Saints declined.
According to report, the Patriots aren’t done trying to get the 23 year old wide receiver.

Bill Belichick loves Brandin Cooks. After all, coach Belichick gets a glimpse at him every training camp when the Patriots and Saints hold joint practice. Bill sees something in this kid and he wants him bad, and I think he will eventually land him. Over the last 2 seasons, Cooks is averaging 1150 yards and 8 touchdowns per season. Stout numbers for a young wide receiver.
Cooks, 5’10”, is someone the Patriots could mold into a slot receiver when it comes time for Danny Amendola, or even Julian Edelman to walk away. Keep in mind, Edelman is 31, and they will certainly need a backup plan for him. Receivers like Edelman that constantly take a beating don’t last as long as you would hope.
Cooks’ cap hit for this coming year is $1.5m, which is probably the sexiest thing that Bill Belichick ever laid eyes on. Cooks has one more year left on his rookie deal. Of all the rumors floating around about Brandon Marshall and Adrian Peterson, Cooks is really the most appealing to me. He can play and he is young. It’s a no brainer.
