This whole situation is getting weirder and weirder by the second. This morning Rapoport tweeted that the Saints are visiting with Butler today and will likely have a deal by the end of the visit.
Now Rapoport reported that the visit is over and there isn’t a deal in place, at least as of yet.

The Saints are still in a tough spot because if they sign Butler and the Patriots do not match, not only are they paying a boatload of money for Butler, but they’re also coughing up the 11th pick in the draft. Something that they most likely don’t want to do.
And in another scenario, the Patriots could just match the offer sheet from the Saints and Butler stays here in New England. It seems more and more likely that a trade would be the Saints preferred method, but if you are the Patriots, why would you trade Butler when you can just match the offer, or better yet, not match it and get the #12 pick instead of the #32 pick (what’s most likely being offered in the trade).
This whole story is one big flip flop, I personally can’t wait until it’s over, no matter what happens.
