If you could press the reset button on a season, this would be a good time to do it.
The New England Patriots have just placed RB Rex Burkhead and LB Ja’Whaun Bentley on IR, ending their seasons: (Teams are given 2 IR designations for return; meaning either player could be brought back, but there is an 8 game minimum before they can designate this return)
BREAKING: The #Patriots will be putting RB Rex Burkhead (neck) and rookie LB Ja'Whaun Bentley (unknown) on IR today, per league source.

Burkhead has had a rough season, with two injuries in three games. A concussion in the season opener against Houston knocked him out of the game as he played 38 of 75 snaps.
He returned in Week Two but played only 14 of 74 snaps against the Jaguars.
Then, last week, he played seven snaps before a neck injury apparently has landed him on IR. Burkhead’s departure Sunday against the Lions left New England with only Sony Michel and James White in the backfield.
Burkhead had two carries for 26 yards against the Lions and in three games had 24 carries for 86 yards and three receptions for 31 yards. Look for rookie running back Sony Michel to get a heavy workload the rest of the season unless the Patriots want to make a call over to their rival Pittsburgh and offer them something for that running back of theirs that is holding out.
Ja’Whuan Bentley played 138 defensive snaps and 46 on special teams in three games. His injury is unknown. The fifth-round pick made 13 tackles, an interception and defensed a pass.
As for Bentley, it is currently unknown why he was placed on IR but he is also done for the season. Tough blow for the Patriots defense. As if this season couldn’t have gone any worse to date.
