BOSTON – Boston Bruins General Manager Don Sweeney announced today that the team has traded defenseman Adam McQuaid to the New York Rangers in exchange for defenseman Steven Kampfer, a 2019 fourth-round draft pick and a 2019 conditional seventh-round draft pick.
McQuaid, 31, appeared in 462 games, totaling 13 goals and 53 assists for 66 points with 652 penalty minutes. While Kampfer, 29, has skated in 166 career NHL games, compiling 10 goals and 16 assists for 26 points with 82 penalty minutes.
What a bummer man. It’s not about stats at all with blue liners. McQuaid was a bad, bad man and it’s sad to see him go for a guy that couldn’t really hold down a spot with the Rangers. McQuaid had heart. Put it on the line every single night. I don’t care how this trade looks on paper, the Bruins lost a good one today. Every team needs a guy like McQuaid. Disappointing day for the Bruins. Oh well.
