Alan Branch missed the previous two practices because his wife gave birth to their son.

Right or wrong, I have the feeling that a majority of people in New England suspected that Branch’s absence from the Patriots last two practices may have had some more sinister implications. Branch was issued a week long team suspension for an unspecified reason this preseason and has gotten into his fair share of trouble over the course of his ten year career. Branch was released by the Bills in 2014 after being charged with a DUI and is a member of the NFL drug program after failing multiple tests for marijuana.
However, Branch shocked the world a couple of months ago, when his four game suspension for violating the league’s drug policy (marijuana) was actually rescinded by the NFL. It was revealed that only old traces of the drug were found in his most recent sample, therefore clearing his name.
It’s good to see that Branch is in fact keeping his nose clean headed into the playoffs, as he’s been a key cog in a rejuvenated defensive line. Too bad he didn’t have a baby girl though, could have name her Olive….Olive Branch (Ba dum tss). I’ll see myself out.
